Current Information:Age-34 45 Northampton Road, Clerkenwell Bard Cottage Cemetery, Belgium In mid February, 1916, 20th Division which included 7th Cornwall Light Infantry of 61 Brigade, moved to Ypres and took over the Boesinghe sector in the north-east of the salient, on the left of the British line. When not in the front line, which was more a series of posts rather than a continuous line of trenches, they were in dug-outs on the canal bank. On 31st March, 1916, 7th Cornwall Light Infantry was occupying these front line posts when one of them, No. 6 post, was utterly destroyed by an enemy high explosive shell and six of the men there were killed. |
